mr. bird’s emporium

Mr. Bird’s Emporium had it’s grand opening on October 13th 2012 and it has been busily trading since then. Mr. Bird’s describes itself as “Birmingham’s First Vintage Concept Store” and it is the creation of Frankie Johns (Urban Village) and Sabina Gran (Sutton Vintage & Arts Fair).

It is home to a host of vintage and handmade traders and a few weeks ago I tootled on down to take some pics of these lovely peeps and their wares. Some were a bit camera shy though and I couldn’t persuade everyone to pose for me!

Pictured below are Laura Loves, Bits and Bows, Nothing New, Sneeky Fox, Vintage Hideaway, Vote Vintage, Trunk Junkies Vintage, Uptodated, Boucher and Bond, Roxy Valetta.

As well as the permanent traders there are also opportunities for artists, designer-makers and independent sellers to “rent a shelf” and there’s the regular fair The Custard Cream.

So if you’re looking for something vintage or handmade pop down to Mr. Bird’s Emporium. There’s still time before Christmas!

pin cushion prize

I don’t enter many competitions and giveaways but I was drawn to the lovely blog of Bee and Buzz, who I found via UK Handmade, I liked her idea for sharing tutorials and thought the prizes were very sweet so I entered. Much to my surprise I won 2nd prize, this pretty pumpkin pin cushion. It arrived in the post today carefully packaged and with a handmade card. It was so exciting receiving this prize through the post and unwrapping it. I think I might be a weeny bit hooked now to blog competitions!

Bee and Buzz has an Etsy Shop and a Folksy Shop where you can purchase her handmade goodies.

vintage weekend

This past weekend has been very vintage! On Saturday I had a stand at the Birmingham Vintage Fair. The fair was a really relaxed event with an interesting mix of vintage, handmade, music and more. The fair was organised by the super talented Rickie Josen.

Here are just a few photos from the day including some of the other stands, Ghost Town Outfits, Emily Rose and Maria Wigley. For more see the flickr set by Keith Bloomfield (Hardluck Hotel).

On the very hot and sunny Sunday I exhibited at the Midlands Chic Wedding Fair at East Bridgford Hill, Nottingham. As with other Midlands Chic Wedding Fairs this was a friendly and charming fair, well attended by lots of brides to be and couples.

Here are some photos of my stand and just a few of the other exhibitors, Charlotte Thomson, Angela Vickers, Yummy Little Cakes and Vintage Glamour Days. More can be found in this flickr set by Keith Bloomfield (Hardluck Hotel).
