white on white dolls

Each one of these dolls is unique, a remade antique with layers of history.

Their heads date from the 19th century but they never made it on to the dolls they were originally intended for, until recently they were buried in the spoil heaps of German doll factories. They were thrown away because they weren’t perfect and have sustained some damage from being buried. Their clothes are made from a mix of antique lace and vintage fabrics. Some of these fabrics show the wear and tear of their previous lives.

The dolls have soft bodies made from cotton, carefully stuffed to make them firm but malleable. They measure about 25cm in height.

These dolls might just want to be angels as well! They have detachable wings that can be added if they feel like perching at the top of a Christmas tree.
