This morning we watched The Iron Giant, the animated film directed by Brad Bird with soundtrack by, the sadly deceased, Michael Kamen. The children chose this film to watch but I really didn’t mind as it’s one of my favourites. After watching the film the children were inspired to make some drawings and have been pretty much drawing all day.

I hunted out our copy of the Ted Hughes book The Iron Man, on which the film is roughly based. I read some of it to the children and will read the rest to them at bedtime. I had forgotten how much I like the original illustrations by Andrew Davidson.
