tweedy cats

The latest creations in my range of tweedy animals are these cats. This range is inspired by my childhood teddies and soft animals and other collections of antique toys. They are made from limited stocks of vintage and reclaimed fabrics and each one has it’s own personality. They have moveable limbs, mother of pearl button eyes and a ribbon tie around their neck.

I make small cats measuring about 25 cm from head to toe and medium cats measuring about 30cm.

cloth dolls

My love of dolls spans a number of decades. I had quite a few as a child of all different shapes and sizes and I still can’t bear to part with many of them. I continue to collect them (but only a few as space is limited!) and now so does my daughter. It’s memories of hours spent playing with my dolls and time spent watching my daughter that have inspired this range of dolls.

These dolls are made from cotton fabric and they measure about 46cm in length. They have simple hand embroidered facial features and their hair is created from merino wool that has been hand stitched on to their heads .

Each doll is unique and individual. They are available with different skin tones and hair colours and can have either open or closed eyes. All of the clothes are re-moveable and every doll has lace trimmed underwear.

There are different ranges of doll:

“Frock” these wear colourful dresses made from vintage fabrics.

“Folk” these dolls wear skirts and blouses with either a cape or jacket all made from vintage and reclaimed fabrics.

“Party” these dolls wear dresses made from silks, taffetas and chiffons and have tiaras made from wire and beads.

These dolls are currently available to trade buyers. For full terms and conditions and payment options please get in touch via my contact page.

making cloth dolls

I’m currently working on new additions to my range of toys and collectables including some cloth dolls. I’ve always loved dolls and still have a few that I had as a child as well as a number of books on the subject.

I’ve never found dolls spooky, sinister or odd so didn’t want mine to have that feel but neither did I want them to be cute. I decided to use new fabric for the bodies, sewing in ‘knees’ and ‘elbows’ to give the limbs some articulation. I hand embroidered the simple facial features.

For the hair I have used merino wool.

The dolls’ clothes are made from vintage and reclaimed fabrics. I love sorting through my collection of fabrics and selecting which to use. I made the dolls pants and edged them with cotton and lace trim and shoes made from felt with ribbon ties.
