midsummer

June is one of my favourite months. I love the long days and the feeling of more time that this brings. My garden is in full bloom and the recent warm, dry weather has meant I have been outside enjoying it.

I have been joining in with The Wildlife Trusts 30 Days Wild and while most of this has taken place in my garden or very locally one sunny day we ventured a bit further a field to enjoy the countryside and a walk in the woods.

Katherine Swift in her book The Morville Year describes Midsummer as “a period of suspension…when the whole garden seems to be holding its breath”. Ah, I wish it could hold its breath for just a little bit longer.
