lavender wreath

I have already cut some of the lavender on the allotment to use in lavender bags, but there is still quite a bit left so I decided to make a wreath.

Here is a tutorial for making a lavender wreath.

Materials and equipment

Lavender

wire (this needs to be strong enough to hold it’s shape)

flower scissors

string

Technique

Make a circle of the wire (this can be a size to suit, I made mine about 20cm in diameter) and wrap the ends around each other to close the circle.

Gather a small bunch of lavender and tie with some string, then tie this to the wire circle.

Cut the lavender stalks to shorten them and so they won’t show behind the other bunches.

Continue round the wire circle, overlapping each bunch of lavender and cutting the long stalks.

Finish when you have reached your stating point. Neaten the string ties and you might have to gently  move the bunches to make sure the overlaps aren’t too noticeable.

Add a length of string to hang the wreath.

A sweet scented reminder of Summer.
