tin can vases

I made these tin can vases for my Summer party….such wonderful memories of the day! (some photos here). This is a great way to reuse and recycle materials that otherwise might get thrown away. I have saved these vases and will certainly use them again (warning they do get a bit rusty inside with repeated use).

Equipment

scissors

sticky tape

glue

brush for gluing

doily punch

Materials

tin cans

plain paper

comics

wrapping paper

I wanted these vases to match the bunting I made so I used comics and also some summery wrapping paper but you could use a different combination of paper.

Technique

Cut lengths of plain paper (cut each length long enough to wrap around your cans). Doily punch each side of the paper.

Tape one end of the paper to your can then wrap all around the middle of the can and tape together.

Then cut thinner strips of the comic/wrapping paper and glue around the middle of the doily punched paper.

I had bits and bobs of left over paper and my daughter made her own version of the tin can vase.
