harvest time

So many lovely things to harvest at the moment on the allotment. I thought I might have missed the Victoria plums while I was on holiday but luckily I didn’t. So this week we “have been mostly eating plums”, plum crumble, plum cake….Also tomatoes (just right for a pizza), courgettes and ruby chard (these both taste so nice fresh picked). As well as savouring these seasonal fruit and veg now I’m also trying to preserve as much of the harvest as I can to enjoy at a later date.

Harvests have inspired some of my handmade beads, and I enjoy trying to capture harvests and the allotment in photographs.

i would love to come and have a look around the allotement one day. we are definitely inexperienced in our growing, but we are trying. 🙂 you could show us how it’s really done!

I love this time of year! We had apple & blackberry crumble today, with fruit from the garden, and I’ve got bags of raspberries in the freezer waiting to become jam 🙂 Not much else though this year … combination of bad back in the planting season, then a hot spell and slugs while we were on holiday finished off what little we did have. Ah well, next year …

Mmm, blackberry and apple, I think it’s the taste of Autumn. I’ve frozen some blackberries as my apples aren’t ready yet, can’t wait to make some crumble.
